Mairehaus merrylicious market

Mairehau's Merrylicious Market

For the last term us year 9s and 10s have been working on our projects for our Mairehau Merrylicious Market.
Sophie and I decided to make canvases with Christmas pictures on them and Christmas hollies (leaves and three balloons which people can hang up on their wall.)
They didn't really sell that good, but mistakes happen and for next year I will now
know not to do them because they didn't really sell.

I think they didn't sell very well because they had cost a lot to get the supplies so we needed to sell them for more then we brought them for to get profit and the price was a bit high for customers. Another reason I think they didn't sell was because we had blown up the balloons earlier that day so they had deflated and didn't look that good.

For next year I think we could get some ideas from what sold good in the market this year and maybe make stuff kinda different so then it doesn't look like we copied the idea.

Overall I had a great time making the canvases and our projects even though they didn't sell it was fun and I cant wait to do it next year and make even better projects than I did this year.

FLT at Mairehau High school.

FLT
(Flexible Learning Time)
In FLT we get to learn and explore everything to do with adulting and life skills that a needed in life.
Some skills I have learnt through FlT are making a water filter so I can clean water if needed and
I also have learnt.
one very important skill that is very helpful later in life and that is how to find a flat and budget out
my money.
Probably my most favourite part of adulting 101 would be doing the
mystery food box challenge I found it fun because I was able to be creative with what I made and
I also liked how we didn't have many ingredients so
it made it even harder the make something but we made it through and the funny
thing about it is we didn't even use a recipe so it got pretty crazy in the kitchen.
Here are the list of the ingredients we had a choice out of.
1. carrot
2. egg
3. bag of pasta
4. can of tomato paste
5. onion
6. and garlic

We might have sneaked in some buns so we could make a burger.
Here's a picture of what the end result looked like.

If I had another opportunity to do this project I think I would  maybe experiment more with the ingredients
and communicate more with my partner because while I was in the kitchen we both had realised that we had completely different ideas of what
we were doing and how it was being done
and also I didn't realise that my partner was doing more of the work then I was.
One thing that worked well was how in the end me and my partner had little stations so she would
chop up the ingredients and put them in the burgers and I would cook the patties and mince for the burgers.
If i was to also carry on this in FLT i would like to try other foods and see
what kind of different ingredients mix together well and what ingredients don't.
